1. What are the best surfaces to use with a cling film?
LDPE cling film works best with glass and ceramics. The "cling" to
metal container is reduced if the metal surface is sand-blasted or
chemically treated.
2. How can I test the quality of "cling"?
Here's
one quick "shake test" that is fast and easy. Fill a round-top glass
half-full of water. Apply the cling film on the top of the glass so
that no air can get in.
Shake the glass 30 times to see if any water leaks out. If no water leaks out, it has the right "cling factor."
3. What is the different between LDPE and PVC cling film?
These
are different products for different markets. Generally speaking, LDPE
cling film is more suitable for home kitchen use. PVC cling film, on
the other hand, is more suitable for food display and catering kitchen
use.
4. How can I do a quick cling film quality test?
- Pull
out the film and cut it. A quality cling film should be easy to pull
out and cut apart. The film should stay in one large sheet instead of
sticky together.
- Tear out the film and
look for haze, tension line, smell or odor, film surface wrinkles, and
gel (like a dot on the film). A quality cling film should have none of
these.
- Look at the film edges on both sides. If the rewinding process is done right, the edges are sharp.
- With one hand holding the roll or cling film, move your index finger
from your other hand across the cling film surface. You can feel if
there are un-even thicknesses and/or tension build-up.
- Look at the paper core (on the edges or inside) to see if there is any collapse due to tension.
- Look
at the cutter bar. You want it to have a cutter strong enough
to cut the film, but not too aggressive that it might cut your fingers.
- The unit box should be sturdy enough to last for a few months on the shelf and an additional few months in the kitchen.
- Additional information from the FDA ( http://www.fda.gov/ ) certification of the raw materials.
- Additional information from SGS ( http://www.sgs.com/ ) testing report for FDA21CFR177.1520 standard.
5. Is Fine Vantage cling film microwave safe?
YES! To achieve best results, please leave about one inch above any

Our cling film does NOT contain DEHA, a potentially harmful plasticizer widely-used in other PVC cling film.
7. What is the standard thickness and width?
We are offering different film thickness of 9, 11 and 13µm. Standard width

tape or touch stick are available as an optional feature. We can also
